Responsibility
- Lead and manage patent prosecution strategy, drafting and filing high-quality patent applications across software, hardware, and AI domains.
- Oversee trademark clearance, protection, and enforcement worldwide; manage brand portfolio and licensing considerations.
- Draft, negotiate, and review IP-related agreements including licenses, R&D collaborations, confidentiality, and assignment agreements.
- Work closely with product, engineering, and legal teams to perform freedom-to-operate analyses, competitive landscape reviews, and IP risk assessments.
- Coordinate IP due diligence for licensing deals, partnerships, and M&A activities; support integration of acquired IP assets.
- Develop and mentor junior IP counsel and paralegals; implement process improvements for docketing and portfolio management.
- Monitor evolving IP laws and industry trends; present actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active bar admission in California (or eligible for admission).
- Minimum 5 years of intellectual property experience in the technology sector, with a focus on patent prosecution and IP strategy.
- Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record in patent portfolio development, patent drafting, and prosecution before USPTO and international patent offices.
- Experience with trademark clearance, licensing, and IP agreements; ability to negotiate favorable terms with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to perform FTO and IP risk assessments; keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment; adaptable, proactive, and collaborative team player.
