NovaTech Innovations, a leading technology pioneer, is seeking a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to protect our cutting-edge innovations across software, hardware, and biotech platforms. This role partners with product teams, research, and external counsel to build scalable IP strategy, manage risk, and drive value from our patent and trademark portfolio.

Responsibility
- Develop and execute the global IP strategy to maximize patent protection and freedom-to-operate for core products and platforms
- Lead patent portfolio development, drafting, and prosecution across software, hardware, and biotech domains
- Oversee trademark clearance, filing, maintenance, and brand strategy in key markets
- Negotiate and structure IP licenses, assignments, and cross-licensing agreements with strategic partners
- Conduct IP diligence for partnerships, M&A, and product launches; advise on risk mitigation
- Collaborate with R&D and product teams to implement IP by design processes and invention capture
- Manage relationships with external counsel, budget, and performance metrics
- Provide training and practical guidance to cross-functional teams on IP best practices and compliance
Qualification
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; bar admission in good standing
- 5+ years of hands-on intellectual property experience, preferably with a mix of patent prosecution and IP strategy in tech or life sciences
- Strong patent drafting and prosecution skills across software, electronics, and biotech inventions
- Proven track record in licenses, collaborations, and technology transactions
- Experience with due diligence for M&A and partnerships; ability to translate complex IP into business risk and value
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, global environment; highly detail-oriented
- Experience with international IP regimes and patent/ trademark prosecution in multiple jurisdictions
