Responsibility
- Develop and execute in-depth investigative stories that expose wrongdoing, mismanagement, or public health and safety concerns.
- Source, interview, and corroborate information with a focus on accuracy, fairness, and context.
- Conduct data-driven reporting, including digging into public records, datasets, and court filings.
- Collaborate with editors to plan enterprise coverage and long-form investigations.
- Produce compelling, multimedia-ready stories for print, online, and social platforms.
- Mentor junior reporters and provide on-the-record guidance and feedback.
- Ensure ethical standards, legal compliance, and transparent sourcing; protect confidential sources.
- Meet tight deadlines and adapt reporting for rapid breaking news cycles.
Qualification
- 5+ years of experience in investigative or enterprise journalism, preferably within a major newsroom.
- Strong sourcing, interviewing, and verification skills with a track record of impactful reporting.
- Experience with data journalism, investigative techniques, and public records requests.
- Proficiency in newsroom technology, CMS, and basic multimedia storytelling.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with AP style knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to ethics, transparency, and accuracy; discretion with sensitive sources.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills a plus.
