Responsibility
- Develop and publish timely, accurate reporting across assigned beats with emphasis on accountability and impact.
- Lead investigations using data, documents, and public records to uncover meaningful stories.
- Conduct in-depth interviews, verify facts, and ensure ethical sourcing and attribution.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and multimedia producers to craft engaging stories for web, print, and social platforms.
- Write clear, concise copy optimized for digital audiences and SEO, meeting tight deadlines.
- Mentor junior reporters and contribute to newsroom training and editorial standards.
- Monitor breaking news and rapidly adapt coverage to evolving developments.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field; 3+ years of newsroom experience.
- Proven track record in investigative or enterprise reporting with published pieces.
- Strong reporting, interviewing, and fact-checking skills; excellent editorial judgment.
- Proficiency with data journalism tools (Excel, SQL, newsroom analytics) or willingness to learn.
- Experience producing multimedia content (video, audio, podcasts) and basic video editing is a plus.
- Knowledge of AP style, ethics, and a commitment to accuracy and transparency.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in other languages a plus.
