Responsibility
- Lead global patent strategy including drafting, filing, prosecution, and portfolio management for software, AI, hardware, and cloud technologies.
- Oversee trademark strategy, clearance, registration, enforcement, and renewal programs across jurisdictions.
- Structure and negotiate IP licenses, collaborations, research agreements, and cross-license arrangements to enable product growth.
- Perform IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships; advise on risk and integration plans.
- Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and monitor competitive IP landscapes to inform product strategy.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to capture invention disclosures and implement an invention capture program.
- Supervise outside counsel, manage budgets, and ensure timely, high-quality IP prosecution and enforcement.
- Develop and implement internal IP processes, training, and governance to scale with company growth.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor and active US bar admission; USPTO registration as a patent attorney is preferred.
- 6+ years of IP law experience with substantial patent prosecution and portfolio management.
- Strong technical background in software, AI, electronics, or related fields.
- Experience with trademarks, IP licensing, due diligence, and IP risk assessment.
- Excellent negotiation, writing, and communication skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record of leading or coordinating with outside counsel and cross-border teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
