Join Nimbus Analytics as a Senior Meteorologist to lead advanced weather analytics, forecast modeling, and stakeholder communication.
We are seeking a results-driven meteorologist who excels in data-driven forecasting, climate analytics, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver actionable insights to clients and internal teams.
Responsibility
- Lead the development of probabilistic weather forecasts and decision-support tools for clients and internal teams.
- Build and maintain forecast models using numerical weather prediction outputs, statistical techniques, and machine learning where appropriate.
- Translate complex meteorological data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences including operations, risk management, and leadership.
- Collaborate with data engineers to source and quality-control weather data, GIS datasets, and satellite observations.
- Communicate forecast uncertainty, risk assessments, and impact analyses to non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor a growing team of meteorologists and junior analysts, fostering a culture of rigor and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to climate and weather research initiatives and publish findings when feasible.
Qualification
- Master's degree or PhD in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in operational forecasting, weather analytics, or climate science.
- Proficiency with Python (NumPy, SciPy, pandas) and R for data analysis; experience with SQL databases.
- Strong experience with meteorological data sources (GSM, radar, satellite, reanalysis) and numerical weather prediction models.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and validate forecasting models and communicate results to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Experience with GIS tools, data visualization, and dashboarding (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
