Join Northstar Climate Analytics, a leading meteorology and weather forecasting organization driving data-driven insights for public and private sectors. We are seeking a Senior Meteorologist / Weather Data Scientist to lead advanced forecasting, atmospheric analytics, and model evaluation.
In this role, you will collaborate with climatologists, IT engineers, and product teams to deliver actionable weather information, develop forecasting tools, and communicate complex results to stakeholders.

Responsibility
- Lead the development and validation of numerical weather prediction (NWP) models and forecasting systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated data pipelines for real-time weather data ingestion and quality control.
- Analyze large meteorological datasets (radar, satellite, surface observations) to extract actionable insights.
- Develop visualization dashboards and reports for clients and internal teams using Python, R, and GIS tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and deliver impactful weather-based solutions.
- Publish research findings in internal and external venues; present results to stakeholders and customers.
- Mentor junior meteorologists and data scientists; contribute to department knowledge sharing.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and scientific integrity standards.
Qualification
- Master's degree (or PhD preferred) in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in operational or research meteorology, with strong forecasting and data analytics background.
- Proficiency in Python (NumPy, SciPy, pandas), R, and SQL; experience with machine learning a plus.
- Hands-on experience with NWP models and data assimilation; familiarity with AWIPS, WRF, GRIB, radar, and satellite data.
- Strong data visualization and communication skills; experience creating client-ready dashboards.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team; strong problem-solving and project management capabilities.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and big data tools is a plus.
- U.S. work authorization or eligibility required.
