As a Senior Multimedia Journalist, you will shape investigations and feature reporting, collaborate with editors and photographers, and deliver content optimized for digital-first audiences with accuracy and empathy.
Responsibility
- Produce and report timely local, national, and feature stories across digital and broadcast platforms.
- Develop sources, conduct in-depth investigations, and verify information to the highest ethical standards.
- Write clear, accurate, and engaging copy; craft compelling headlines and social copy.
- Shoot, edit, and package video and audio content; oversee multimedia storytelling from concept to publish.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and producers; participate in editorial planning and daily meetings.
- Manage deadlines across multiple projects; adapt to shifts in fast-paced newsroom environments.
- Ensure accessibility and SEO best practices for digital distribution; optimize content for reach and engagement.
- Mentor junior reporters and interns; contribute to newsroom training and policy development.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 7+ years in a newsroom or investigative reporting environment.
- Outstanding reporting, interviewing, and storytelling skills with a proven track record.
- Proficiency in digital storytelling tools: CMS (WordPress), AP style, SEO, basic video editing (Premiere/Final Cut), and audio editing.
- Strong ethical standards, accuracy, and commitment to factual integrity.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines; flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and breaking news events.
- Ability to develop reliable sources and maintain professional judgment under pressure.
- Beat knowledge in politics, public policy, or urban issues is a plus; multilingual abilities are a plus.
