NovaPack Solutions is a premier packaging partner delivering sustainable, premium packaging solutions for leading brands worldwide. We are seeking a results driven Senior Packaging Engineer to join our Chicago based team and accelerate packaging innovation from concept through commercialization.
In this role you will partner with R&D, design teams, supply chain, and manufacturing to optimize packaging performance, reduce total cost of ownership and ensure quality and regulatory compliance. You will translate customer requirements into robust engineering specifications, lead material selection, and drive the implementation of new packaging solutions from pilot to mass production.
Responsibility
- Lead packaging design initiatives from concept to production release, including material selection and sustainability considerations.
- Develop and validate packaging specifications, test protocols, and performance criteria.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and procurement to scale new packaging solutions across lines.
- Analyze cost drivers and lead cost reduction projects without compromising quality or regulatory compliance.
- Perform design of experiments and data analysis to optimize packaging performance and processability.
- Coordinate supplier qualification and manage external partners for testing and validation.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO standards and customer requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor or Master in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in packaging design, development, and commercialization in consumer goods or healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of package materials, testing methods, and regulatory guidelines.
- Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software, plus experience with PLM and ERP systems.
- Lean Six Sigma or equivalent process improvement experience is preferred.
- Excellent cross functional communication and project management skills; ability to influence without authority.
- Strong problem solving, data analysis and decision making under tight timelines.
- Ability to travel up to 15 occasionally as required.
