Responsibility
- Lead the design and optimization of primary and secondary packaging systems for new and existing products.
- Own packaging performance testing, including drop, vibration, compression, seal integrity, and transit testing across multiple packaging types.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and procurement to transition packaging concepts from prototype to high-volume production.
- Develop packaging specifications, bill of materials, artwork, and change control documentation; manage supplier qualifications.
- Drive cost reduction and sustainability initiatives through material substitutions, weight reduction, and process enhancements without compromising quality.
- Ensure packaging compliance with regulatory and labeling requirements and support sustainability goals (recyclability, recyclability labeling).
- Lead supplier engagement, audits, and performance reviews; manage vendor relationships and risk.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of packaging design/engineering within consumer goods, food, beverage, or pharma sectors.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, barrier properties, adhesives, coatings, and converting processes.
- Experience with DOE/DFMEA, project management, and data-driven problem solving; proficiency with CAD tools is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects, manage timelines, and communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and sustainability initiatives related to packaging.
- Excellent analytical, presentation, and negotiation skills; ability to influence and drive decisions at all levels.
