Job description
At ApexQuantum Research Institute, we push the boundaries of physics to unlock mysteries of quantum materials. Based in Cambridge, MA, we offer a collaborative environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and a strong culture of scientific impact.
We are seeking a Senior Physicist to lead experimental programs, mentor researchers, and drive translation of discoveries into scalable technologies. You will collaborate with physicists, engineers, and chemists on interdisciplinary projects that advance our understanding of quantum phenomena.
As part of our team, you will have opportunities to publish high-impact research, contribute to grant proposals, and help shape the roadmap of next-generation quantum devices.
Responsibility
- Design and execute cutting-edge experiments in quantum materials and condensed matter physics.
- Develop measurement techniques for cryogenic environments, low-temperature spectroscopy, and high-field magnetometry.
- Lead data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation; implement robust statistical methods and data quality controls.
- Mentor and supervise graduate students, postdocs, and technicians; ensure lab safety and compliance.
- Collaborate with theoretical physicists, engineers, and chemists to drive project goals from concept to publication.
- Prepare research proposals, progress reports, and contribute to high-impact publications and presentations.
- Support intellectual property development and technology transfer activities; present findings at conferences and seminars.
Qualification
- PhD in Physics or a closely related field; postdoctoral experience is a plus.
- 5+ years of hands-on experimental research in quantum materials or condensed matter physics.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis with Python and MATLAB; experience with LabVIEW is a plus.
- Proven track record of publications and presentations; ability to lead and mentor teams.
- Experience with cryogenic systems, low-temperature measurements, and high-field magnetometry or ultrafast spectroscopy.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
