NovaPack Solutions is seeking a Senior Product Packaging Engineer to lead packaging development from concept through validation. You will partner with Product, R&D, and Operations to deliver packaging that protects, differentiates, and reduces cost. Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept through validation, prototyping, and pilot runs.
- Collaborate with Product, R&D, Supply Chain, and QA to align packaging with product goals and manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop packaging specifications, BOMs, ink and label requirements, and performance criteria.
- Plan and execute ISTA testing, drop tests, Vibration, Cushioning, and Shelf-life validations.
- Identify sustainable and cost-effective materials, evaluate recyclability, and drive material substitutions when appropriate.
- Own packaging cost targets and build optimization roadmaps to reduce total landed cost.
- Lead supplier teams, conduct technical audits, and manage vendor relationships for packaging materials and printing.
Qualification
- BS or MS in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of packaging design/engineering experience in consumer products or CPG.
- Strong proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo) and 3D modeling; experience with PLM systems.
- Deep knowledge of packaging materials (paperboard, corrugate, plastics) and printing/labeling processes.
- Familiar with packaging testing standards (ISTA, ASTM) and regulatory/compliance considerations.
- Excellent problem-solving, data analysis (Excel, Minitab), and project management skills.
- Strong cross-functional communication and supplier/vendor management abilities.
- Track record of delivering on-time, on-spec packaging projects with measurable savings.
