Job description

At NexaFab Industries, we design and manufacture advanced components for automotive and industrial sectors. We are seeking a Senior Production Engineer to lead manufacturing excellence in our Detroit facility. This role blends hands-on process optimization with strategic automation initiatives to deliver quality, safety, and cost improvements.

You will champion lean practices, mentor teams, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to sustain world-class performance in a high-velocity production environment.

Responsibility

  • Lead daily production planning and line optimization across assigned lines to achieve safety, quality, and output targets.
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, scrap, and downtime.
  • Collaborate with QA, maintenance, and supply chain to ensure on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery and root-cause analysis.
  • Manage process documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and change control; ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality standards.
  • Mentor and develop shift engineers and operators; drive training, skill development, and performance coaching.
  • Lead capital projects and automation initiatives from concept through commissioning, including ROI analysis and risk assessment.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (OEE, yield, scrap rate) and deliver data-driven reports to leadership.
  • Foster a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement; participate in safety committees and audits.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing/industrial production experience in a high-volume facility.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (belt certified preferred), and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and MES; proficient data analysis skills (Excel, Power BI) for decision-making.
  • Familiarity with automation, robotics, PLCs, and process automation technologies.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration, communication, and project management abilities; demonstrated leadership of teams.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and ISO 9001 quality management systems; continuous improvement mindset.
