Aurora Press, a premium independent publisher based in New York, seeks a Senior Publishing Editor to join our dynamic content team. This role anchors editorial strategy across multiple imprints, ensures exceptional quality, and accelerates time-to-market for our books and digital programs.
As the Senior Publishing Editor, you will shape manuscript acquisitions, guide editorial direction, collaborate with authors, designers, production, and marketing teams, and mentor junior editors.

Responsibility
- Lead editorial planning and strategy for assigned imprints and genres
- Oversee the editorial calendar, scheduling, and milestone tracking
- Edit manuscripts for structure, style, accuracy, and voice
- Coordinate with authors, designers, production, marketing, and sales teams
- Maintain and enforce house style guides and QA processes
- Ensure timely delivery of manuscripts and metadata for publication
- Mentor editors and interns, fostering professional growth
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- 5+ years of editorial experience in publishing (trade or digital)
- Strong command of editorial standards, grammar, and style guides
- Proficiency with CMS, DAM, and common publishing tools
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with metadata, SEO, and rights management
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
- Portfolio of edited projects or published works
