What you’ll do: lead the editorial lifecycle, curate compelling features, and ensure consistency with brand voice. Partner with design, production, and marketing to publish on deadline and optimize reader engagement. This is a senior role that shapes the content strategy and mentors a diverse team of editors and contributors.
Responsibility
- Lead the end-to-end publication lifecycle, from acquisition and outline through editing, proofreading, and final production for print and digital channels.
- Develop and manage the editorial calendar, ensuring timely delivery of features, departments, and special issues.
- Collaborate with authors, designers, photographers, and marketers to produce high-quality, reader-first content.
- Oversee copyediting, QA, and quality control to maintain accuracy, style, and house standards (Chicago/Turabian where applicable).
- Manage rights, permissions, licensing, and attribution for all published content.
- Optimize content for discoverability with SEO, metadata, and analytics-driven decision making.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field.
- 5+ years of publishing/editing experience, with a track record of managing digital and print content.
- Excellent editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills; strong command of grammar and style guides.
- Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), digital publishing tools, and basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including meeting deadlines, budgeting, and coordinating multiple contributors.
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration abilities; experience managing freelance contributors.
