Job description
QuantumWorks Research Institute invites a Senior Research Physicist to join our Quantum Materials division in Cambridge, MA. This role focuses on experimental and theoretical investigations into emergent phenomena in condensed matter systems, with emphasis on materials discovery, device physics, and scalable fabrication. The successful candidate will lead cross-disciplinary projects, collaborate with industry partners, and contribute to high-impact publications.
We offer state-of-the-art facilities, access to startup funds, and opportunities for leadership and mentorship in a collaborative, diverse environment.
Responsibility
- Lead experimental and theoretical investigations in quantum materials and condensed matter physics.
- Design, implement, and optimize advanced measurement techniques (low-temperature, high-field, spectroscopy) to probe material properties.
- Develop and validate computational models and data analysis pipelines (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
- Collaborate with chemists and engineers to synthesize and characterize novel materials.
- Mentor graduate students, postdocs, and junior scientists; present findings at seminars and conferences.
- Write and publish high-impact papers; contribute to grant proposals and reporting.
- Manage research projects, budgets, and timelines; ensure compliance with safety and ethics.
Qualification
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field (or MS with 5+ years of relevant experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in experimental condensed matter physics or quantum materials.
- Proficiency with cryogenic measurement systems, nano-fabrication, and high-field magnet systems.
- Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C/C++), data analysis, and computational modeling.
- Demonstrated record of publications; experience with grant writing is a plus.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring abilities.
