NovaBio Therapeutics is a cutting-edge biotechnology company focused on developing transformative therapies for unmet medical needs. We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist to join our Cambridge, MA-based team and drive translational biology initiatives across discovery and preclinical development.
In this role, you will lead experimental design, execute complex biology experiments, and collaborate cross-functionally with chemistry, data science, and manufacturing to advance programs toward clinical testing.
Responsibility
- Lead design and execution of translational biology studies spanning molecular biology, cell culture, assay development, and mechanistic investigations.
- Develop and optimize CRISPR-based genome editing workflows and functional screens to interrogate disease-relevant targets.
- Oversee protein expression, purification, and in vitro characterization of biomarkers and therapeutic candidates.
- Design robust analytical assays (ELISA, qPCR, Western blot) and validate readouts for preclinical studies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate discovery findings into actionable preclinical programs and milestones.
- Analyze complex datasets, generate comprehensive research reports, and present findings to stakeholders and leadership.
- Ensure rigorous documentation and compliance with GLP/GMP practices where applicable, and mentor junior scientists.
Qualification
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a closely related field; or MS with 5+ years of industry experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on R&D experience in biotech, including assay development, cell culture, and omics approaches.
- Expertise with CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing and high-throughput screening.
- Strong data analysis skills using Python, R, or similar tools; demonstrated statistical literacy.
- Experience with protein expression/purification, ELISA, qPCR, and characterizing biomolecules.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines (GLP/GMP) and robust documentation practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams.
