Job description
GreenStream Environmental Solutions is seeking a Senior Waste Management Engineer to lead strategic programs for municipal and commercial waste management in the Los Angeles region. You will develop innovative waste reduction and recycling strategies, ensure compliance with EPA, CalRecycle, and local regulations, and collaborate with operations, engineering, and client teams to deliver measurable environmental impact.
As a key member of our environmental services team, you will drive projects from concept through implementation, manage budgets, and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibility
- Lead design, implementation, and optimization of waste collection, recycling, and disposal programs.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with EPA, CalRecycle, and local authorities; maintain audits and reporting.
- Develop data-driven performance dashboards; monitor KPIs; prepare sustainability and regulatory reports.
- Manage multi-stakeholder projects with internal teams, municipal partners, and clients.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and procurement for waste programs.
- Lead safety training and ensure best practices for waste handling and PPE.
- Identify and implement waste-to-resource opportunities; support zero-waste goals and circular economy initiatives.
- Collaborate with GIS and engineering teams to optimize routes, facilities, and processing flows.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in waste management, recycling, or environmental services.
- Strong knowledge of EPA, CalRecycle, and local regulations; permit and reporting experience.
- Project management skills; PMP or CAP certification preferred.
- Data analytics proficiency (Excel, SQL, Power BI); GIS experience (ArcGIS).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to manage budgets and multi-site operations; up to 25% travel.
- Leadership mindset with the ability to mentor junior staff.
