GreenPath Environmental is seeking a Senior Waste Management Specialist to lead strategic waste programs across our client facilities in Houston and the surrounding region. This role drives sustainability initiatives, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, and optimizes waste operations to reduce costs and environmental impact.
As a key member of our operations team, you will partner with engineers, operations leaders, and vendors to design, implement, and monitor comprehensive waste management processes that align with business goals and regulatory requirements.
What you’ll do:
Responsibility
- Lead and coordinate waste management programs across multiple facilities to reduce generation, increase recycling/diversion, and lower disposal costs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA) and manage permit requirements and reporting.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for waste operations, including diversion rates, cost per ton, and audit findings.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and procurement teams to design sustainable waste streams and optimize collection, storage, and transport.
- Manage relationships with haulers, recyclers, and vendors; negotiate contracts and oversee service level agreements.
- Lead incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety training related to waste handling and storage.
- Prepare environmental reports, permits, and regulatory submissions; support internal audits and client requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in waste management, environmental compliance, or sustainability programs.
- Strong knowledge of RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, and state-specific waste regulations; experience with permitting and reporting.
- Proven project management and vendor management skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Data analysis proficiency (Excel, SQL, or similar) and familiarity with waste tracking software; GIS experience a plus.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities; customer-focused mindset.
- Professional license or certification such as PE, CWM, LEED AP, or equivalent preferred.
- Safety-minded with knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial hygiene practices.
