Job description

AquaNova International is seeking a highly skilled Senior Water & Sanitation Engineer to lead transformative water and sanitation projects across urban and rural settings. This full-time role combines technical excellence, program management, and strong stakeholder engagement to deliver sustainable solutions.

In this role you will spearhead design, field implementation, and performance monitoring to ensure safe water access and improved sanitation outcomes for communities. You will collaborate with government agencies, donors, and local partners to scale impact and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design, procurement, and construction oversight of water supply and sanitation schemes from concept to handover.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, on-budget project delivery in line with local regulations and quality standards.
  • Develop technical designs, hydraulic models, and bills of quantities; review drawings and specifications.
  • Establish robust monitoring and evaluation plans; track performance, outcomes, and lessons learned.
  • Engage with government agencies, communities, and partners to align interventions with policy priorities and social safeguards.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, procurement plans, and risk registers; ensure donor and organizational governance requirements are met.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in water supply, sanitation, and infrastructure projects (urban or rural).
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., CE or local equivalent) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic modeling, pipe networks, water quality standards, and sanitation technologies.
  • Proven experience with project management, monitoring & evaluation, and donor-funded programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with demonstrated community engagement skills.
  • Proficient in GIS, AutoCAD/Revit, and MS Office; ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Willingness to travel within the region and work in cross-cultural teams.
