This role blends maritime expertise with data driven analytics to manage a dynamic shipping portfolio and ensure accurate market exposure management across the commodities value chain. You will work closely with traders, risk managers, and operations teams to translate market signals into actionable insights, optimize voyage planning and hedging, and maintain robust reporting that supports quick, informed decisions in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in Maritime or a related field and brings a proactive mindset, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills. You will be empowered to own critical data streams, develop intelligent dashboards, and contribute to performance improvements within a global energy trading organization.

Key responsibilities include monitoring daily positions, charter activity, and freight rate movements; analyzing data and market intelligence to assess risk and exposure; partnering with commercial teams to optimize voyages, hedges, and routing; building and maintaining clear dashboards, KPIs, and PnL reporting; coordinating with brokers, carriers, and back-office teams to ensure accurate settlements and timely issue resolution; supporting governance and compliance with internal controls; driving process improvements and data quality initiatives; and preparing concise, decision-ready reports for senior stakeholders.

Responsibility

  • Monitor daily shipping positions, charters and freight rates to maintain accurate market exposure and PnL integrity
  • Analyze shipping data, market trends and vessel performance to provide timely insights to traders and risk managers
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to optimize voyage planning, hedging strategy and routing
  • Maintain and improve reporting dashboards, risk dashboards and performance metrics
  • Liaise with brokers, carriers and clients to ensure smooth operations, trade settlement and issue resolution
  • Support compliance and governance by adhering to internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in process improvements and data quality initiatives to enhance efficiency
  • Prepare concise, decision ready reports for senior management as needed

Qualification

  • University degree in Maritime or equivalent field
  • 2+ years of shipping, logistics or maritime data analysis
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with ability to translate data into insights
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with SQL, Python or VBA is a plus
  • Knowledge of maritime markets, freight rates, vessel types and chartering processes
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with traders, desk ops, risk and back-office teams
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities
