Summit Legal Partners, a premier mid-market law firm, is seeking a skilled Staff Attorney to join our New York office. You will support corporate transactions, commercial contracts, and ongoing regulatory compliance for a diverse client base. As a Staff Attorney, you will partner with partners and associates to deliver high-quality legal services, manage matter calendars, draft and edit agreements, conduct legal research, and support due diligence for M&A activity.
Responsibility
- Provide accurate legal counsel on corporate matters, including contract drafting and negotiation.
- Draft, review, and revise complex commercial agreements and ancillary documents.
- Conduct and supervise legal research, analyzing statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Assist in due diligence, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance for transactions.
- Coordinate with internal teams and clients to manage matter timelines and deliverables.
- Support litigation readiness and document management as needed.
- Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing within the firm.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school; admitted to the New York Bar or eligible for admission.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in corporate law, contracts, or commercial litigation.
- Strong legal research and drafting skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and client-facing abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with standard legal research tools and contract management software; MS Office suite.
