Responsibility
- Report on local, national, and international news with accuracy and independence.
- Develop sources, conduct investigative research, and verify facts.
- Write clear, compelling stories for web, mobile, and social platforms.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and videographers; contribute multimedia elements as needed.
- Edit or update stories as new information emerges; ensure quick turnarounds on breaking news.
- Uphold ethical standards and AP style; meticulous attribution and fact-checking.
- Leverage data journalism and public records to uncover trends and insights.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- 2+ years of reporting experience in a newsroom, with proven clips of diverse formats.
- Strong writing and editing skills; ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Experience with investigative reporting and data-driven storytelling; familiarity with open records requests.
- Proficiency in AP style; basic multimedia production knowledge; and social media savvy.
- Excellent interviewing and source development skills; strong ethics and newsroom collaboration.
- Portfolio of published work demonstrating versatility across stories and formats.
