BluePlanet Waste Solutions is seeking a results-driven Waste Management Engineer to join our Houston team. In this role, you will design and optimize municipal and commercial waste programs that reduce environmental impact while delivering exceptional service.
As a key member of our Operations group, you will collaborate across departments to implement sustainable waste strategies, manage contractor performance, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Responsibility
- Develop and implement waste collection and recycling programs, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Analyze data to optimize routes, reduce fuel usage, and improve service levels.
- Manage contractor relationships and performance metrics for hauling, transfer stations, and disposal facilities.
- Lead cross-functional projects with operations, engineering, and safety teams.
- Ensure environmental health and safety compliance; perform audits and incident investigations.
- Prepare budgets, forecast costs, and monitor KPIs related to waste diversion and cost per ton.
- Support community engagement and education programs to promote recycling and waste reduction.
- Prepare technical reports and permit applications as needed.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in waste management, recycling, or solid waste operations.
- Knowledge of RCRA, OSHA, and local environmental regulations.
- Experience with data analysis, Excel, and GIS; experience with route optimization software is a plus.
- Strong communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to travel 10-20% as needed; valid driver's license.
- Certified hazardous waste operations (HAZWOP) or equivalent preferred.
- Proven track record of improving waste diversion, cost control, and regulatory compliance.
