Job description

St. Luke University School of Theology invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Theology. We seek a scholar and educator who can teach core courses in theology, biblical studies, and ethics, develop engaging curricula, and contribute to the scholarly community with research and service. Responsibility

  • Teach a standard load of theology courses (e.g., systematic theology, biblical studies, church history, and ethics) across undergraduate and graduate programs, including online or hybrid formats.
  • Design and revise curricula to align with program outcomes and accreditation standards.
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate student theses, capstones, and research projects.
  • Maintain an active research agenda with publication and conference participation; contribute to the School's scholarly mission.
  • Engage with local churches and faith-based organizations to provide practical ministry opportunities for students.
  • Serve on faculty committees, participate in program assessment, and contribute to governance and strategic planning.
  • Advise students on academic pathways, careers, and spiritual formation; support inclusive classroom environments.
  • Contribute to community outreach, public scholarship, and dialogue across faith traditions.

Qualification

  • PhD in Theology or a closely related field (or demonstrated progress toward completion with clear milestones).
  • Evidence of effective teaching across diverse student populations; experience with online or hybrid instruction preferred.
  • Strong research portfolio with publications or working papers in theology or religious studies.
  • Ability to teach biblical languages (Greek or Hebrew) is highly desirable; willingness to learn or collaborate if not present.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in theological education.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; willingness to engage with campus and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and program accreditation processes.
