Harborview Seminary invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Theology to join our distinguished faculty. We seek a scholar-teacher who demonstrates excellence in pedagogy, a solid research portfolio, and a passion for forming thoughtful leaders for church and society. The successful candidate will contribute to core theology curricula, mentor students, and collaborate with colleagues across our theology and religious studies programs. Responsibility
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Theology, Biblical Studies, and related disciplines with a student-centered approach.
- Design innovative curricula and select instructional methods that foster critical thinking and spiritual formation.
- Design and supervise student research, capstone projects, and field placements.
- Advise and mentor students on academic progress, research, and vocation.
- Develop and publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed outlets and present at conferences.
- Engage in service to the department, college, and accrediting bodies; participate in program assessment and development.
- Contribute to the seminary’s mission through collaborative teaching, community engagement, and interfaith dialogue.
- Represent the seminary at local churches, conferences, and scholarly networks as needed.
Qualification
- PhD in Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field; ABD candidates considered with clear timeline to degree completion.
- Strong teaching record with evidence of effective pedagogy and student mentorship.
- Active research agenda with publications in reputable journals or books in theology or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with multiple theological traditions and commitment to inclusive education.
- Ability to integrate faith, scholarship, and ethical formation in classroom and advising settings.
- Excellent communication skills, collaboration, and a willingness to contribute to a diverse academic community.
- Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and program growth; ability to secure external funding is a plus.
- Commitment to faith-based education and service in a seminary context.
