Join Lumencrest University in Cambridge, MA, as a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theology. We seek a scholar-teacher whose work integrates rigorous academic inquiry with a commitment to faith-informed education that nurtures critical thinking and compassionate leadership.
We are especially interested in candidates with a focus on Christian Ethics and related fields, but exceptional applicants from Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology, or Ecclesiology will also be considered. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate liberal arts offerings and graduate seminars, mentor students, and participate in program development that advances our mission of academic excellence and community engagement.
Responsibilities include teaching diverse courses, developing innovative curricula, and advancing scholarly research with an active publication plan. Lumencrest University supports sabbatical opportunities, grant-seeking, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Responsibility
- Teach a range of undergraduate and graduate theology courses with an emphasis on engaging, accessible pedagogy.
- Develop and update curricula, syllabi, and assessment methods to align with program goals.
- Mentor and advise students; supervise theses and capstone projects.
- Lead and participate in research projects; publish in peer-reviewed journals; present at conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary programs and interfaith initiatives.
- Contribute to service commitments, accreditation processes, and department committees.
- Engage in grant writing and seek external funding where appropriate.
Qualification
- PhD in Theology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Evidence of excellence in university-level teaching and student mentorship.
- Strong research record with peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Specialization in Christian Ethics, Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology, or related areas; ability to teach core theology courses.
- Experience with diverse classrooms and inclusive pedagogy; commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrations of engaging pedagogical approach.
- Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and program accreditation.
