NovaBio Therapeutics is seeking a Biology Research Scientist to join our expanding team in Cambridge, MA. The ideal candidate will design and execute experiments that advance our drug discovery programs, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to a fast-paced, impactful research culture.
In this role, you will work closely with scientists in biology, chemistry, and bioinformatics to translate laboratory findings into actionable data and next-step experiments. Responsibility
- Design, optimize, and execute molecular biology and cellular assays to support drug discovery programs.
- Plan and perform wet-lab experiments including PCR/qPCR, cloning, gene expression analysis, ELISA, and sequencing as needed.
- Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks, SOPs, and data records; ensure reproducibility and quality control.
- Analyze experimental data using Python/R, GraphPad Prism, and other tools; generate clear reports and presentations for cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with bioinformatics, medicinal chemistry, and operations teams to translate findings into actionable next steps.
- Train and mentor junior researchers, oversee daily lab activities, and ensure safe and compliant lab practices.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of assays and workflows; identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
Qualification
- MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field; PhD is preferred; 3+ years of industry experience in biotech or pharma.
- Strong hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques: PCR, qPCR, cloning, sequencing, and cell culture.
- Proficiency in data analysis with Python, R, or GraphPad Prism; ability to interpret results and communicate clearly.
- Experience with documentation, SOPs, GLP/GXP knowledge is a plus; strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities; able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
