BioVector Labs is seeking a Senior Research Scientist focused on Molecular Biology to join our expanding life sciences team in Cambridge, MA. This is a hands-on, collaborative role designed for a leader who thrives on solving complex biological problems and delivering rigorous data-driven insights.
In this role, you will design and execute experiments, mentor junior scientists, and partner with cross-functional teams to translate discoveries into impactful applications.
Responsibility
- Design, optimize, and execute advanced molecular biology experiments including CRISPR based gene editing, gene expression analysis, and plasmid design.
- Lead cell culture of mammalian lines and develop robust assays such as RT-qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA.
- Plan and oversee projects from concept to data interpretation, ensuring rigorous controls, reproducibility, and timely delivery.
- Mentor junior scientists, oversee training, and promote a safe and compliant lab environment.
- Collaborate with bioinformatics and data science teams to analyze sequencing data (NGS) and perform statistical analysis using Python or R.
- Prepare technical reports, contribute to manuscript writing, and support grant proposals as needed.
Qualification
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field; or a master’s degree with extensive industrial experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on molecular biology experience in academic or industry settings.
- Expertise in CRISPR gene editing, plasmid design, and molecular cloning.
- Proficiency in cell culture of mammalian cell lines and development of RT-qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA assays.
- Experience with sequencing technologies (NGS) and basic data analysis in Python or R.
- Strong problem solving, communication, and project management skills; experience mentoring junior staff.
- Knowledge of GLP/GMP and rigorous adherence to laboratory safety and compliance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.
