Bruker Corporation is seeking a meticulous and hands on BNSM Assembly Technician to join our Penang manufacturing team. In this role you will contribute to the assembly and integration of complete and partial systems across multiple Bruker product lines, turning complex drawings and spec sheets into reliable instruments used by researchers and industry professionals worldwide.
As a member of the Manufacturing and Systems Integration group, you will work on electro mechanical assemblies, harnessing, cabling, connectors, and subassemblies. You will perform sub-assembly, final assembly, wiring, calibration, and functional testing in accordance with documented procedures. You will use standard test equipment to verify electrical, mechanical, and thermal performance, recording results and ensuring traceability. You will participate in root cause analysis for assembly issues, contribute to continuous improvement activities, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and lean manufacturing standards including 5S and IPC guidelines where applicable.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with design engineers and product managers to interpret drawings, adhering to BOMs, and maintaining accurate work instructions and documentation. You will support post assembly verification and handover to the QA or shipping teams, assist with rework and configuration changes, and keep work areas clean and organized in a cleanroom or controlled environment as required. To succeed, you should have strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and the ability to read mechanical drawings and basic wiring diagrams. A proactive problem solving mindset, good communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative cross-functional team are essential.
Responsibility
- Assemble and integrate subassemblies and complete systems according to engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, and cabling assembly and harnessing of instruments.
- Install, align, and test components and subassemblies to verify functional performance.
- Document procedures, work instructions, and test results for traceability.
- Support calibration, functional verification, and final integration with QA teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve assembly or component issues; participate in root cause analysis.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and lean manufacturing standards including 5S and IPC guidelines.
- Collaborate with design engineers and manufacturing teams to interpret drawings and ensure on-time delivery.
Qualification
- Diploma or technical certificate in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related engineering disciplines.
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly or instrumentation manufacturing, preferably in a high-precision environment.
- Experience reading mechanical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions; ability to interpret wiring diagrams and BOMs.
- Proficient with handheld measuring tools and test equipment; basic soldering and cable harnessing skills; familiarity with IPC standards is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem solving ability; good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn, adapt to new product lines, and work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting; eligibility to work in Malaysia.
- Ability to work in shifts and maintain a safe, clean environment; ISO/quality system awareness preferred.
- Fluent in English; ability to read and follow procedures and participate in cross-functional teams.
