Join Aurora Media Group as a Broadcast Engineer in Los Angeles. You will design, deploy, and maintain our live and on-demand video delivery systems across multi‑platform architectures. Responsibility
- Design, install, configure, and maintain broadcast infrastructure including control rooms, ingest suites, playout servers, and routing systems.
- Manage playout automation, ingest, encoding, and signal routing for live and on‑demand content.
- Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues during live broadcasts, and implement redundancy and failover strategies.
- Collaborate with IT and facilities to ensure network security, backups, disaster recovery, and compliant operations.
- Document architectures, SOPs, and best practices; mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross‑team projects.
- Lead the integration of IP‑based workflows (SMPTE ST 2110, AES67) with traditional SDI environments where applicable.
- Support remote operations and cloud‑based playout and distribution as required.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of broadcast engineering experience in live television or streaming environments.
- Strong knowledge of SMPTE ST 2110, IP video, and related standards; familiarity with NDI, Ravenna, or AES67 is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience with encoders/decoders, video servers, automation systems, and modulation equipment.
- Proficiency in control room operations, routing, and automation software; experience with Ross, Grass Valley, or Imagine products preferred.
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS); CCNA or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork with the ability to work on‑call during broadcasts.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑moving media landscape.
