NovaWave Media is seeking a detail-driven Broadcast Engineer to join our Los Angeles studio team. You will own the end-to-end health of live and recorded broadcasts, manage studio facilities, and ensure seamless signal flow from camera to air. This role blends engineering rigor with creative collaboration to deliver broadcast-grade reliability across multi-channel productions.

Responsibility
- Maintain and operate studio transmission equipment including routers, switchers, encoders/decoders, and playout systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during live broadcasts to minimize downtime.
- Design and implement SDI and IP-based workflows (SMPTE 2110) across multiple control rooms.
- Configure and monitor encoding, transcoding, and automation systems for on-air delivery.
- Collaborate with producers and engineers to ensure broadcast quality and signal integrity.
- Document technical procedures, maintenance logs, and incident reports for audits and training.
- Perform preventive maintenance and on-call support to ensure 24/7 reliability.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on broadcast engineering experience in studio or OB environment.
- Strong knowledge of SDI, IP video (SMPTE 2110/2020), routing, waveform monitors, and video servers.
- Experience with broadcast automation, master control, media servers, and newsroom systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and on-call rotations, as needed.
- Preferred certifications such as SBE, Avid, or Telestream; familiarity with FCC EAS compliance.
