Mills Recruitment has partnered with a leading global manufacturer in the water pump industry to recruit a results-oriented Business Development Manager for the Klang region in Malaysia. This is a high-visibility role designed to drive market expansion, accelerate sales growth, and strengthen the company’s leadership position in the pump sector. You will operate at the intersection of technical product knowledge and strategic sales, helping customers select the right pumping solutions for municipal, commercial, and industrial applications.
As a key member of the sales leadership team, you will own the end-to-end business development process—from market scouting and lead generation to proposal development and deal closure. You will build a healthy sales pipeline, forecast accurately, and collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and marketing to tailor value propositions that meet customer needs while maximizing profitability. Responsibility
- Develop and execute a structured sales strategy to expand the company’s presence in Klang and across Malaysia for industrial pumps and water solutions.
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with municipal utilities, EPCs, distributors, and end-users; manage a robust sales pipeline and accurate forecasting.
- Build and nurture strategic accounts through proactive relationship management and value-based selling.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate customer needs into tailored proposals and competitive quotes.
- Lead negotiations, prepare contracts, and ensure timely order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer visits to showcase solutions and gather market intelligence.
- Monitor market trends, pricing strategies, and competitive landscape to inform market entry and growth strategies.
- Coordinate with marketing and operations to ensure smooth delivery, service excellence, and long-term partnerships.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or technical accreditation is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of B2B sales experience in pumps, water treatment equipment, or capital machinery, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Strong network within Malaysia and Southeast Asia among EPCs, engineering consultancies, distributors, and OEMs.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 40-60% as required and manage multi-region accounts.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and MS Office; data-driven decision maker.
- Technical aptitude to discuss pumping technologies (centrifugal pumps, VFDs, efficiency upgrades) and retrofit solutions.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently within a global team.
