Responsibility
- Interpret accurately and confidentially during medical consultations between providers and patients.
- Facilitate clear, concise communication in clinical settings, including emergency rooms and outpatient clinics.
- Translate medical documents and patient information as needed.
- Maintain strict adherence to medical terminology and confidentiality protocols.
- Support physicians and nursing staff in understanding patient needs and concerns.
- Document interpreting sessions in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance interpreting skills and medical knowledge.
- Contribute to a culturally sensitive, welcoming environment for patients and staff.
Qualification
- Certification as a Medical Interpreter (CCHI, NBCMI, or equivalent).
- Fluent in English and Spanish, with superior oral and written communication skills.
- Minimum 2 years of professional medical interpreting experience.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare processes.
- Familiarity with patient privacy and HIPAA requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
