Join Harborview Birth & Family Health as a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) in Portland, Oregon. We deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to a diverse community and support informed decision-making from pregnancy through the postpartum period. As part of our midwifery team, you will guide low-risk pregnancies, offer intrapartum support, provide lactation counseling, and promote continuous quality improvement in maternal-newborn care. You will partner with families to develop individualized care plans that honor cultural values, safety, and clinical best practices.
Responsibility
- Provide comprehensive midwifery care across the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods with a focus on evidence-based, patient-centered practice.
- Perform risk assessments, screenings, and counseling to support informed decision-making and healthy outcomes.
- Support labor and birth, including pain management options, continuous support during labor, and facilitation of cesarean, VBAC, and water birth plans when appropriate.
- Conduct newborn assessments, promote lactation support, and assist families with early parenting and newborn care.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and lactation consultants to ensure cohesive, multidisciplinary care.
- Educate patients and families through individualized counseling and prenatal classes, promoting empowerment and informed choices.
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualification
- Active Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) license in the state of Oregon; board-certified by relevant accrediting body (e.g., ACOG/NBOME).
- Minimum 2 years of clinical midwifery experience preferred; exceptional new graduates with accredited residency may be considered.
- Current BLS, CPR, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; additional perinatal training as required.
- Excellent communication, cultural humility, and patient advocacy skills; ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) and commitment to documentation accuracy and privacy.
- Ability to manage a flexible schedule, including potential on-call shifts and weekends.
- Commitment to continuous learning and participation in quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
