Join Lumen & Loom Fine Arts, a premier contemporary art gallery in New York City, to support transformative exhibitions and artist collaborations. We seek a proactive, detail-oriented professional to help curate shows, coordinate logistics, and engage our community.
As a Curatorial Assistant, you will work closely with the Director and Head Curator to bring ambitious exhibitions to life, from research to installation.
Responsibility
- Assist with research and documentation for upcoming exhibitions, including artist statements and catalog notes.
- Coordinate loan agreements, insurance, transportation, and condition reporting for artworks.
- Support the curatorial team in planning installation budgets and timelines.
- Assist with gallery walk-throughs, install days, and de-installation logistics.
- Develop outreach initiatives to engage collectors, institutions, and the local community.
- Maintain exhibition dossiers, checklists, and inventory records.
- Collaborate with registrars, conservators, and vendors to ensure accuracy and quality.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a gallery, museum, or arts organization.
- Strong research, writing, and critical analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and project-management abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple exhibitions and deadlines.
- Familiarity with installation logistics, conservation concepts, and insurance processes.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and gallery management software; comfort with CRM tools.
