We are a forward-thinking arts organization in New York City seeking a dynamic Fine Arts Gallery Manager to lead ambitious exhibitions, steward collections, and elevate our artist programs. The ideal candidate blends curatorial insight with operational excellence, bringing bold ideas to life while ensuring the highest standards of gallery operations, safety, and visitor experience.
In this role, you will collaborate with curators, artists, donors, and partners to shape a dynamic exhibition calendar, manage budgets, oversee installation logistics, and supervise a small team. Responsibility
- Lead the planning and execution of rotating and permanent exhibitions, from concept to opening reception
- Oversee collections management, conservation coordination, and cataloging
- Manage vendor relationships, budgets, scheduling, installation, and condition reporting
- Collaborate with curators and artists to develop compelling programming and wall text
- Lead outreach and donor relations to secure sponsorships and funding for exhibitions
- Oversee gallery operations, safety protocols, visitor services, and staffing
- Coordinate public programming, talks, and education initiatives
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or related field; MFA preferred
- 3-5 years of gallery, museum, or arts organization experience in curatorial or exhibition management
- Strong project management, budgeting, and vendor coordination skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to write wall text and proposals
- Strong network within the contemporary art scene; knowledge of fairs and auctions is a plus
- Proficiency with collections management systems and CRM; basic digital marketing knowledge
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, culturally diverse environment
