Lumina Fine Arts, a premier contemporary gallery located in Manhattan, seeks a dedicated Gallery Assistant to join our close-knit team. This full-time position provides hands-on exposure to curatorial support, client services, and the operational flow that powers successful exhibitions. You will be a cornerstone in delivering exceptional visitor experiences and helping artists connect with collectors in a demanding market.
Responsibility
- Coordinate exhibition setup and takedown, ensuring artworks are installed securely and with proper labels.
- Assist the curator with research, cataloging, label creation, and archival materials.
- Manage front-of-house operations, greet visitors, support donors and clients, and conduct guided gallery tours.
- Support the sales process by responding to inquiries, preparing proposals, processing payments, and maintaining CRM records.
- Coordinate artist communications, loan logistics, transportation, and insurance documentation.
- Plan and execute opening receptions and special events, manage guest lists, vendors, and on-site logistics.
- Maintain accurate inventory, condition reports, and art-handling procedures for all works.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a gallery, museum, or art-related setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and client-relations skills.
- Solid knowledge of contemporary art, artists, and best practices in art handling.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, gallery databases, MS Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends for openings and events; legally eligible to work in the US.
