Join a premier New York gallery to support our curatorial team in delivering compelling exhibitions and public programs. This role blends research, installation support, and audience-focused storytelling to elevate the gallery’s presence in the vibrant contemporary art scene.
You will collaborate closely with artists, lenders, registrars, and educators to ensure rigorous scholarship, professional handling of artworks, and engaging interpretive materials for visitors.
Responsibility
- Research artists, artworks, and curatorial concepts for upcoming exhibitions and catalogs.
- Coordinate with artists, lenders, and internal teams to plan exhibition timelines and logistics.
- Assist in drafting wall labels, interpretive texts, and program copy that clearly communicates curatorial ideas.
- Support budget tracking, scheduling, and vendor communications for exhibitions and events.
- Maintain and organize archival materials, digital catalogs, and metadata in the gallery database.
- Contribute to educational programs, tours, and community outreach initiatives.
- Assist with installation planning, condition reporting, and handling procedures to ensure artwork safety.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Museum Studies, or related field.
- 2+ years of curatorial or gallery experience, with solid knowledge of contemporary and modern art.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft clear labels and program copy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic digital asset management.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with lending processes, condition reporting, and insurance guidelines is a plus.
