Nova Dance Studio is seeking a full-time Dance Instructor & Choreographer to join our New York City team. This role blends technical mastery with creative leadership, guiding dancers across levels and preparing performances for public stages.
As a core member of our artistic staff, you will design progressive curricula, mentor dancers, and collaborate with producers and directors to deliver high-caliber productions that energize our community.
Responsibility
- Lead daily dance classes across multiple genres for youth and adult students, adapting to varied skill levels
- Develop and choreograph original works for studio performances and outreach events
- Design progressive training plans, assess student progress, and provide actionable feedback
- Collaborate with program directors on season programming, auditions, and repertoire selection
- Mentor and motivate dancers, fostering technique, artistry, and professional growth
- Oversee class scheduling, studio safety, and attendance records
- Represent the studio at community events, showcases, and outreach initiatives
Qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional dance experience across at least two styles (e.g., ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop)
- Proven ability to teach and choreograph for diverse age groups and skill levels
- Formal education in dance or equivalent professional training (Bachelor's preferred)
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for performances
