Responsibility

  • Lead the creative development and calendaring of the annual dance season, including repertoire selection, premiere planning, and production logistics.
  • Direct and choreograph company and guest works; oversee resident choreographers and associate artists.
  • Lecture and coach technique and performance skills across level ranges from apprentices to professionals.
  • Design and implement training programs focused on technique, artistry, and stagecraft; monitor progress and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Collaborate with production, outreach, and marketing teams to ensure consistent artistic messaging and audience experience.
  • Mentor dancers in career development, audition preparation, and collaborative problem-solving on and off stage.
  • Oversee casting, rehearsal scheduling, and safety protocols, ensuring equitable access and inclusion in all activities.
  • Represent the company at industry events, festivals, and community partnerships.

Qualification

  • Minimum 5-7 years as a professional dancer and 3+ years in leadership, choreography, or education roles.
  • Proven track record of creating compelling, technically strong works for contemporary, ballet, or hybrid repertoires.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills with the ability to motivate diverse groups of artists.
  • Strong knowledge of safe rehearsal practices and injury prevention; working understanding of STEM-based training methods is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and staffing with a calm and proactive leadership style.
  • Experience with casting, outreach, and community engagement; fluent in inclusive practices and equity in the arts.
  • BA/BFA in Dance, Choreography, or Related Field; MFA preferred; A-level credentials accepted.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as required by the season.
