Pulse & Motion Dance Collective, a premier NYC dance company, is seeking a dynamic Dance Instructor & Choreographer to lead company rehearsals, develop original works, and contribute to an exciting season of performances.
As a key member of our artistic team, you will design movement language, create engaging classes for students and company dancers, and mentor emerging artists in technique and performance skills. The ideal candidate is versatile across styles, collaborative, and passionate about storytelling through movement.
Responsibility
- Choreograph original works and arrange measure-level steps for company productions.
- Lead company rehearsals, block rehearsals, and prepare dancers for live performances.
- Design and teach technique-focused classes across multiple genres for company and community students.
- Collaborate with the artistic director to develop movement vocabulary and thematic concepts.
- Mentor dancers, provide constructive feedback, and oversee auditions and casting.
- Coordinate with production teams on staging, lighting, and costume considerations.
- Foster an inclusive, safe, and creative studio culture and manage rehearsal calendars.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree or demonstrated professional training in dance or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional dance, teaching, or choreography experience.
- Proficiency across at least two genres (ballet/contemporary/jazz/hip-hop); strong musicality.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to choreograph for groups of 8-32 dancers and adapt to varying stage configurations.
- Experience with staging, rehearsal scheduling, and basic production coordination.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances.
