Join Harbor City Dance Collective, a premier NYC-based organization dedicated to contemporary and classical dance. We are seeking a strategic, creative Dance Program Director to lead artistic direction, community engagement, and program development across classes, performances, and outreach initiatives.
As a senior leader, you will collaborate with choreographers, educators, and administrators to elevate artistry, expand access to dance, and ensure sustainable growth. This full-time position offers an opportunity to shape a dynamic cultural institution in the heart of New York City.
Responsibility
- Lead artistic planning and season development, curating a diverse repertoire and commissioning new works.
- Oversee program operations including schedule, faculty management, and facility logistics.
- Develop and manage budgets, fundraising strategies, and grant reporting to support artistic goals.
- Foster community partnerships with schools, studios, and cultural organizations to broaden access to dance.
- Mentor and supervise teaching staff, choreographers, and apprentices; set performance standards.
- Plan and execute signature events, workshops, and community showcases.
- Champion inclusive practices and equity in all programs and casting decisions.
- Represent the organization publicly, driving media outreach and audience development.
Qualification
- Minimum 5 years of professional dance experience with a track record in program management or artistic direction.
- Bachelor's degree in Dance, Arts Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Strong choreography background and knowledge of ballet, contemporary, and fusion styles.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Proven experience with budgeting, grant writing, and fundraising for arts programs.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for performances.
- Dedication to inclusivity, equity, and diversity in programming and staffing.
- Proficiency with MS Office, dance management software, and scheduling tools.
