Job description

CityArts Collective is a leading New York City-based performing arts nonprofit dedicated to presenting innovative theater, dance, and music that engage diverse audiences. We are seeking a dynamic Program Manager to lead artistic programming, coordinate collaborations with artists and venues, and drive audience development and fundraising efforts.

In this full-time role, you will collaborate with curators, directors, and partners to design a vibrant season, oversee production schedules, monitor budgets, and ensure all activities meet high standards of artistic quality and accessibility.

Responsibility

  • Oversee the planning, curation, and execution of the annual performing arts season, including theater, dance, and music programs.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, contracts, venues, rights clearances, and production details to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Lead fundraising and grant activities, including proposal writing, donor stewardship, and reporting.
  • Develop partnerships with artists, schools, venues, and community organizations to expand reach and impact.
  • Coordinate marketing, audience development, ticketing, and accessibility initiatives to grow attendance and inclusivity.
  • Supervise program staff and volunteers, and collaborate with production, marketing, and development teams.
  • Evaluate program outcomes through data, surveys, and qualitative feedback to inform improvements.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, performing arts, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in performing arts programming, production, or administration.
  • Proven track record in fundraising, grant writing, and reporting; budget management experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of production processes, licensing/rights, and union or contractor agreements.
  • Proficiency with CRM, ticketing, and production software (e.g., Tessitura, Salesforce, Eventbrite).
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required by programming.
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
