Join Lumina Dance Collective, a premier NYC studio, as a Dance Studio Instructor. You will lead high energy classes, mentor students, and contribute to performance productions.
We seek a versatile teacher with strong technique in contemporary and ballet, plus foundations in hip hop and jazz. The role blends teaching, choreography support, and studio community building.
As part of our team you will design safe, progressive curriculums, adapt to student levels, and collaborate with choreographers on stage pieces.
Responsibility
- Lead engaging group dance classes for diverse skill levels across multiple styles
- Develop and showcase original choreographies for student performances
- Assess student progress and provide constructive, actionable feedback
- Plan safe warm ups, proper technique, injury prevention, and post class cooldowns
- Collaborate with studio management on class schedules, events, and outreach
- Mentor assistant teachers and interns to foster a professional studio culture
- Adapt curricula to accommodate different ages and abilities while maintaining high standards
Qualification
- Bachelor or equivalent professional training in dance; 3+ years teaching experience
- Proficient in contemporary and ballet technique with foundations in jazz or hip hop
- Proven ability to choreograph for stage and showcases
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to design inclusive, progressive lesson plans and safely guide students
- Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; willingness to travel for performances
- Experience teaching youth and adult learners; fluency in music interpretation
