SummitEdge Sports Group is seeking a visionary Director of Athlete Performance & Innovation to lead our data-driven performance initiatives across multiple sports. Based in New York, you will partner with coaches, medical staff, and analytics to design and implement programs that optimize physical preparation, recovery, and on-field performance.
You will drive a culture of excellence, leverage cutting-edge technologies, and translate complex data into actionable insights for athletes and leadership alike.
Responsibility
- Lead development and execution of the athlete performance strategy across our sports programs.
- Collaborate with coaching, sports science, medical, and analytics teams to design optimized training plans.
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and visualization to monitor performance, load, and readiness.
- Manage budgets, vendors, and equipment to support performance initiatives.
- Drive innovation by evaluating and integrating new training modalities, wearables, and analytics tools.
- Support talent identification, development pathways, and performance reviews for athletes.
- Lead a cross-functional team, mentor staff, and build a high-performance culture.
- Communicate insights and progress to leadership and athletes in clear, actionable terms.
Qualification
- 14+ years combined experience in high-performance sport, sports science, or related field; at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Advanced degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Proven track record building and scaling performance programs for elite or professional teams.
- Strong expertise with data analytics, biomechanics, load management, and injury prevention.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills; capable of influencing at all levels.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and vendor relationships.
- Proficiency with performance tech (wearables, GPS, motion capture, analytics platforms).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and translate data into actionable decisions.
