Job description

Join Premier Referee Network, a trusted partner for community and amateur leagues across Greater London. We are seeking enthusiastic, fair and decisive referees to officiate football (soccer) matches, basketball, and other field sports. This role offers flexible hours, ongoing training, and a clear path to elite level assignments.

As a referee with our network, you will:

Be the authoritative figure on match days, ensuring safety and fair play for all participants.

Responsibility

  • Officiate assigned matches in accordance with sport-specific laws of the game, ensuring player safety and fair play.
  • Communicate decisions clearly to players, coaches, and match officials, maintaining respect and control on the field.
  • Manage game flow, timekeeping, substitutions, and disciplinary actions when required.
  • Assess pitch conditions and risk factors; pause or terminate play if safety is compromised.
  • Record accurate match reports and incidents, ensuring timely submission to the league office.
  • Collaborate with assistant referees and fourth officials to deliver consistent officiating standards.
  • Participate in mandatory pre-season assessments and ongoing CPR/First Aid and laws-of-the-game training.
  • Uphold the organization’s professionalism and appearance standards during assignments.

Qualification

  • Active certification or qualification in the relevant sport’s officiating (FA/UEFA equivalent or local governing body).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of refereeing experience with positive feedback and reliability.
  • Strong knowledge of the laws of the game and ability to apply them consistently under pressure.
  • Excellent decision-making, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Fitness level appropriate for running and sustained officiating during matches.
  • Ability to remain neutral and manage diverse and challenging situations with integrity.
  • Availability for weekend and evening matches; willingness to travel within Greater London as needed.
  • Current safeguarding and child welfare training if matches involve minors; first aid certification is a plus.
