Global Accord Institute seeks a visionary Director of Diplomacy & International Negotiations to lead our multilateral engagement strategy from Vienna. You will design and manage high-stakes negotiations, coordinate with international partners, and advance policy initiatives that shape global governance. In this role, you will oversee a small team of negotiators, collaborate with policymakers, think tanks, and civil society, and represent the institute in international forums. The ideal candidate blends strategic thinking with practical diplomacy, and speaks fluently English and German, with additional languages a plus.
Responsibility
- Develop and execute the organisation's diplomacy and multilateral engagement strategy across regions.
- Lead high-stakes negotiations with state and non-state actors, monitoring risk and opportunity.
- Coordinate with research, policy, and communications teams to translate insights into diplomatic actions.
- Represent the institute at international conferences, fora, and bilateral meetings.
- Mentor and develop a diverse team of negotiation specialists and policy analysts.
- Monitor geopolitical developments and advise on alliance-building and issue framing.
- Ensure compliance with international law and ethical standards in all engagements.
Qualification
- Advanced degree in International Relations, Political Science, Law, or related field.
- 10+ years experience in diplomacy, negotiations, or international policy.
- Proven track record in multilateral negotiations and policy advocacy.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, political acumen, and risk assessment.
- Fluency in English and German; additional languages (e.g., French, Arabic, Mandarin) a plus.
- Strong communication, public speaking, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience engaging with government officials, international organizations, and think tanks.
