Join a premier professional sports organization as the Director of Player Performance Analytics. This strategic leadership role oversees the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of data-driven performance programs that enhance athlete development, injury prevention, and in-game decision-making.
You will partner with coaching staff, medical, talent acquisition, and operations to translate complex data into actionable insights that drive winning outcomes.
Responsibility
- Lead the development of the team’s performance analytics program, including data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting that inform coaching decisions and player development plans.
- Oversee collection and integration of multi-source data (GPS, load metrics, medical data, performance tests) to create actionable insights for coaches and staff.
- Collaborate with coaching, medical, and operations to design and implement injury prevention and load management strategies based on analytics.
- Translate complex analytics into clear, concise recommendations and presentations for executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Manage a team of analysts; foster a culture of experimentation, rigorous validation, and continuous improvement.
- Champion data governance, privacy, and ethical use of athlete information in line with league and regulatory requirements.
Qualification
- Minimum 8 years of experience in sports analytics, performance science, or a closely related field.
- Advanced degree in data science, kinesiology, sports science, or a quantitative discipline preferred.
- Strong technical expertise in SQL; proficiency in Python or R; experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
- Deep knowledge of athlete performance metrics, GPS/tracking data, load management, and injury prevention analytics.
- Proven ability to translate data into actionable coaching and operational recommendations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; experience leading cross-functional teams in a high-performance environment.
- Experience with privacy, data governance, and handling confidential athlete information.
