Private Advertiser is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter (M&E) to translate engineering designs into precise technical drawings for building services projects. You will create 2D drafting packages and 3D models that guide fabrication and installation, ensuring accuracy, clarity and compliance with codes.
As a key member of our drafting team, you will collaborate with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, project managers and fabricators. You will interpret concepts, develop comprehensive shop drawings, and incorporate design changes with meticulous version control. Your drawings will support procurement, fabrication, site installation and commissioning, helping to reduce rework and keep projects on schedule.
Responsibilities include producing accurate mechanical layouts, piping and equipment schematics, assembling BOMs, and coordinating with suppliers to resolve drafting queries. You will review design intent, verify measurements, and ensure that all drawings align with applicable standards, codes and client requirements. You will contribute to continuous improvement by adopting best practices in drafting, modeling and documentation.

Responsibility
- Prepare accurate 2D mechanical drawings, including layout, details, sections, and fabrication drawings from engineers’ concepts and sketches using AutoCAD.
- Interpret mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) drawings to ensure proper integration of systems within building services projects.
- Develop 3D models or BIM-ready content as required using Revit or compatible software to support clash detection and coordination.
- Collaborate with engineers and fabricators to review designs, respond to drafting inquiries, and incorporate revisions with proper version control.
- Verify dimensions, material specifications, and tolerances; generate bills of materials and part lists for procurement and fabrication.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and internal QA/QC procedures; maintain drawing registers and documentation.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to resolve drafting questions and ensure feasibility of installation sequences.
- Assist in field surveys and as-built documentation to update drawings post-installation as needed.
Qualification
- Diploma or technical certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting and Design, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an M&E Drafter or mechanical drafter, preferably in building services or facilities projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit or SolidWorks is a plus.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping, HVAC, and equipment layouts.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, time-management and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Malaysia's drafting standards and codes; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
